Hamburg

Hamburg, or to be most precise, the Free and Hanseatic city of Hamburg is impressing by its complex cityscape and maritime charm – the central city is located around the Alster, originally a river, but retained as lakes. Hamburg is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Germany, so it is no surprise that it is also high-ranking in regard of the worldwide liveability.

Furthermore the city-state Hamburg is a major transportation hub in Northern Germany with one of the world’s largest harbours, one of the most affluent cities in Europe, a media and industrial centre and overall standing out due to its cosmopolitan flair.

The tourism in Hamburg is one of the fastest-growing in Germany. A typical Hamburg visit includes a tour of the city hall and the grand church St. Michaelis (called the Michel), visiting the old warehouse district (Speicherstadt) and the harbour promenade (Landungsbrücken). At night, Hamburg is showing a very different side –then the area around the Reeperbahn and the quarter St.Pauli are the major centre of attraction.
