Organic and Printed Electronics at MEDIA-TECH Expo

Organic Electronics – a new concept to make electronic devices by combining new functional materials and large area processes – is rapidly moving from lab-scale activities to production.

Thin, lightweight, flexible, and produced at ultra low-cost, these are the keys to new applications that open up multi-billion dollar markets in the next years.  Printed RFID, flexible displays, rollable photovoltaic cells, single use diagnostic devices for medical applications or smart packages are only a few examples for new applications enabled by organic electronics.

In a compact seminar, organized Organic Electronics Association (OE-A) on May 8, 2008, we will give an overview on the fascinating world of printed electronics:

Field test for printed RFID at MEDIA-TECH Expo
Printed low cost RFID tickets developed by the PRISMA project are being field tested during this exhibition. During this trial, pRFID tickets are used for check-in control and to collect statistical data. Mathias Klusmann, Prisma Project, will present application scenarios for smart tickets based on printed RFID.

Printed RFID and its Applications
Dr. Wolfgang Clemens, Head of Applications PolyIC will give an introduction to printed electronics, with a special focus on printed RFID, and draw a vivid picture of variety of  applications enabled by printed RFID.

OE-A - Platform for an Emerging Industry
This presentation by Klaus Hecker, Managing Director OE-A, links the general social trends and how organic electronics can contribute. The OE-A application and technology roadmap for organic electronics will be presented followed by an overview on the activities of the OE-A – the key international platform for organic and printed electronics.
