Dr. Brian Lawrence has worked in the optical information industry for 10 years. He earned his Ph.D. in 1997 from the Center of Research and Education in Optics and Lasers (CREOL) at the University of Central Florida working in the field of nonlinear optical phenomena in organic materials. He then spent six years working on components and systems for optical data transfer systems at Molecular OptoElectronics Corporation (MOEC), serving as the Vice President for Research and Development and CTO from 2000 to 2002. In 2003, he joined General Electrics' Global Research Center working on advance optical storage systems and materials which eventually evolved into a program developing technology for holographic data storage. In 2005, Dr. Lawrence became the manager of the Integrated Polymer Systems Laboratory at GE Global Research, which is primarily responsible for optical polymer materials and process development at GE Global Research, looking specifically at the liquid crystal display and optical media markets.
